Qantas launches new Darwin–Singapore route

Qantas has inaugurated a brand-new international route connecting Darwin to Singapore, offering travel agents across Europe an exciting new gateway into Australia. The direct service, which launched on Sunday, 30 March 2025, marks the airline’s first direct flights between the two destinations in 19 years.

Operated initially by a Boeing 737-800, flight QF113 took off from Darwin and landed in Singapore, ushering in a new era for international access to the Northern Territory.

The service runs four times per week, with plans to increase to five weekly flights in October 2025 using Qantas’ newer Airbus A220 aircraft — offering travellers a quieter, more modern experience. In total, the route adds over 70,000 new seats annually to Singapore’s Changi Airport, reinforcing Darwin’s status as a strategic northern gateway to Australia.

“By adding over 70,000 new seats to the Singapore mega hub, this new route will open up more options for international visitors to make Darwin the first stop on their Australian itinerary,” said Cam Wallace, Qantas International CEO.

Flights depart Darwin at 14:55, arriving in Singapore at 18:15 (QF113), with return flights (QF114) leaving Singapore at 19:20 and landing in Darwin at 01:40 the next day. These timings are optimised for seamless connections with Qantas’ long-haul services, including the flagship A380 from London, as well as flights from Paris, Frankfurt, and other key European cities via partner networks.

A Strengthened Network Through Singapore

Qantas’ new route complements the existing Singapore Airlines service from Darwin, which also connects passengers to Europe via Singapore. Singapore Airlines recently adjusted its schedule to offer late evening departures from Darwin three times per week, improving onward connections to Europe, Asia, and North America — and even reducing the need for overnight layovers in Singapore.

Together, these two carriers now offer an enhanced and more flexible international network from Darwin, giving travel agents more options to build one-stop itineraries to Europe for their clients.

The route opens a world of new itinerary possibilities for clients eager to explore a lesser-known side of Australia. Darwin, as the capital of the Northern Territory, is the gateway to Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks, and Aboriginal cultural experiences. There is also flight connection with Cairns, Alice Springs and all Australian capital cities.
